Grades to Teach/Age Group to Teach?

Rubi Romo: I loved teaching high school sophomores. Taught language arts/English to all grades from 7 to 12 and the 10th graders were my all-time favorite age group. If you choose the secondary level, choose a subject area that you are passionate about and want to share with your students. Do you like working with younger children or older ones? That may determine what level would be a good fit for you. Do you like kids? Don't choose teaching if you do not like being around young people. In the public schools, you'll have students of all ability levels. This can be tough. Teaching is a difficult profession. You take it home with you at night. Teaching takes a lot of preparation. It's a great profession for those who truly love kids and want to make a difference in their learning. But it is exhausting. Not to discourage you, but it's best to know up front what the job of teaching entails. Best wishes!...Show more

Rivka Killmer: primary school!

Zora! Mazzie: I taught high school students for 17 years, then middle school students for another 17. First of all, you don't have to be tied down to the same grade for your entire career. I loved teaching high school students, and then middle schoolers too. I did prefer sixth graders, to the seventh or eighth. The sixth graders were still "innocent." Usually the youngest grade in a school are intimidated and that can be an advantage, at least at the beginning of the year. There were bright, eager to learn kids at all levels. I did find as I got older, I lost my cachet with high school students: you were the same age as their parents....Show more

Berry Gilmore: I have taught First Grade for 2 years now. I undoubtedly like it. I even had an possibility to modify grade phases this 12 months and I handed on it. First Grade is one of these amusing 12 months. They are real starting to be capable to take whatever they have got discovered and practice it. In Kindergarten, the who! le lot is new to them and that is amusing too, however in firs! t grade a bit of the intimidation of university is long gone they usually particularly start to desire to be trained. They start to come to be extra unbiased in each and every element in their finding out; studying, writing, main issue fixing, or even social and motor talents. I suppose it's such a lot amusing to look at this progress. Some of the opposite highlights, are that they're nonetheless younger ample to like university and homework. They are excited every day to look their instructor and love once we begin a brand new task or unit. Everything continues to be new to them so that they hardly ever lose interest. Some of the drawbacks maybe that you just nonetheless must tie footwear, alleviation the crying youngster who misses mother/dad, and there also are the occasional snot and toilet injuries. But -- you're taking this with the entire positives and you return out on most sensible!...Show more
