Ask your own dentist if you can sit in on a couple exams or look at a couple xrays. He'll probably be happy to give you some tips or reading material! Go to a local bookstore like Borders and read up on updated books! A lot of it is really learned in school, but it is very overwhelming, so be prepared to devote every waking hour to it!

Mercedez Trabue: good grades, sadly is what you'll need to be accepted into dental hygiene school. working in a dental office will familiarize you with the jargon, but in the long run you'll be in the same boat as everyone else. classes are difficult, schedule becomes hectic at times. talk to some of the instructors and let them know how interested you are in the dental hygiene profession. go for it though, you'll be glad you did.
