acting agents (general acting questions)?

Jess Grizzel: Your agent will submit you for roles that you are qualified for. If there is a nationwide casting call for a role you are qualified for, they will submit you for that role no matter where it is. A California agent is not going to represent you if you don't live in California unless you are already famous. So someone like Alec Baldwin who lives in NYC has an agent in both NY and LA because he's so famous and works in both cities. Sandra Bullock had an LA agent when she lived in Texas because she was already famous. But agents don't do this for beginners You can't just leave an agency. You sign a contract which is normally good for 1-3 years and cannot leave your agency before the contract expires unless there is an opt-out clause in the contract. Otherwise you can be sued for breach of contract. Most agency contracts will have some sort of clause saying that if they fail to secure any auditions for you within a 6 or 9 month period then you can leave the agenc! y without penalty....Show more

Eliseo Luma: Hello,www.actorsaccess.comwww.breakdownservices.comwww.lacasting.comThese websites will help you find agents, managers, and casting auditions. Now since you guys are very motivated that is the first step to success. But heres some more helpful tips. 1. Start acting class or theatre classes. This will give you the beginnning steps of acting. You will be far more ahead than the other ''girls''. Also agents and managers love people with acting class experience, because thenthey don't have to teach you anything.2. Get into other things, singing, dancing, jump rope, swimming, learning new languages. This will be things you can put on your resume, and will get more auditions for you, since you can do more things. 3. Business wise, never pay an agency or management. They already take 10% out of your paycheck, if they ask you to pay anything walk away, they are doing something illegal. 4.Another great thing is IMTA. www.IMTA.com. It g! ives you acces, to agents, managers casting directors, and mode! ling singing and dancing. Check out the website. I went there and won 5 awards, found manager, and got 2 full acting scholarships. Now just rememeber, not everyone makes it in this business, no matter how cute or talented you are.You have to keep your head up and keep fighting, because this is a cut throat business. Also once you get an agent or manager, or both, they will give you more access to auditions, because they are more educated about that type of stuff.Good Luck!...Show more

Gregg Hagge: I recommend finding a local drama group. After all, if you found an agent they are very expensive. If you are pretty enough and good enough at acting, try an auditions website, which will give information of local auditions for Disney films.
